How We Evaluate

ALG Software publishes comparisons of B2B software used by e-commerce and fulfilment teams — shipping and 3PL, helpdesk, inventory, returns, email and SMS, loyalty and reviews, subscriptions, accounting, and payroll. This page explains how those comparisons get made, and the commitments we hold ourselves to while making them.

How we select what to compare

We choose vendors that come up repeatedly in what e-commerce operators are actually searching for and switching between — the established, widely-adopted tools in each category, not every product on the market. Inclusion in a comparison is not for sale: no vendor pays, has ever paid, or can pay to be added to, removed from, or placed more favourably in a comparison.

What "evaluate" means on this site

These comparisons are desk research. We build them from each vendor's own documentation, published pricing pages, feature lists, and other public information, cross-check that against competitors, and keep the page current as vendors change their offerings. We want to be upfront about what that is and isn't: we have not run every product through hands-on testing, we haven't built lab benchmarks, and there is no review panel scoring these tools. Where a page names a verdict, it's the conclusion of that research, not of a live trial.

Commissions never decide a verdict

Some links on this site are commercial — see our Affiliate Disclosure. As things stand today, no affiliate programme has been approved for any product on this site: every outbound link is a direct link to the vendor's own site, and this site earns nothing from a click or a sale made through it. If and when an affiliate relationship is approved for a product, the commission on that relationship plays no part in which product a comparison recommends, how products are ranked against each other, or the wording of a verdict — the verdict is decided from the research above, before any commercial relationship is factored in, and stays the same regardless of whether a link happens to pay us anything.

How often pages are reviewed

There's no fixed republishing schedule. Every comparison shows its own "Last updated" date, and that date reflects when the page's claims were actually checked — not a rota. Pages get revisited when we become aware that pricing or a feature claim has gone stale, including through error reports from readers.
